Marvel Rivals Season 7 brought a huge change with a global 20% Ult charge nerf that resulted in significant meta shifts for the game. With Ultimate spamming now less viable, heroes are forced to earn their value through better gunplay and ability usage. This Marvel Rivals tier list presents the new landscape of heroes in the game.
April 2026 Snapshot
Ultimates were nerfed with a 20% charge reduction, and Ult spam heroes were sidelined while sustains topped. Some legacy team-ups were removed while new ones were added, and hero bans were expanded at competitive at up to three per team.
How the Best Marvel Rivals Heroes are Ranked
This comprehensive character list came about by combining win rate from the latest player data, pick rates at high rank and above, considering team comp synergy value, and team flexibility for each hero. Expect heroes who excel in a single lineup to be inferior in rank to those that slot into multiple high-functionality lineups. All roles are ranked together.

S-Tier: The Best Heroes in Marvel Rivals
Gambit is the best character to play among strategist heroes in Marvel Rivals, with a buff aura that significantly boosts the team's damage capabilities, and a healing output that keeps up with the best strategists in Marvel Rivals even after the nerf to Ultimates.
Invisible Woman is the best strategist for control. Her shield and team stealth create opportunities for aggressive pushes that enemies can't counter effectively without choice counters. Magneto is among the best vanguards in current season with both his crowd control and damage output that easily make other tanks seem insignificant. His team-up synergies further increase his value.
Groot is the undisputed anchor of 1-2-3 team comps while Loki's utility tools force players to adapt to his very presence. Psylocke is a close-range master, and Elsa Bloodstone has the highest damage among hitscan dps heroes, and that's after nerfs.
Cloak & Dagger is the last notable hero here with both healing and high damage.
A-Tier: Strong Picks Across the Marvel Rivals Meta
These characters don't qualify for the top ranks among the best characters in Marvel Rivals because there are better options and not for lacking functionality, but they're all very capable picks. Luna Snow is a solid healer that also deals damage, though outperformed by Gambit and Invisible Woman.
Mantis thrives with single-target healing under pressure, while Adam Warlock's resurrections are built to tilt the scales in any fight. Emma Frost is still a solid choice despite Diamond Form damage reduction being cut from 25 to 20%, though the added 20% damage reduction during her Ult more than makes up for the nerf.
Others in this tier include Moon Knight, Winter Soldier, Namor, Wolverine, Hela, and Star-Lord, whose sustained pressure fight compatibility matches current season well. The newest hero, White Fox, teams up well with Luna Snow to heal and charm enemies.
B-Tier: Solid but Situational
Best characters in this category can be effective, but maintaining that level of performance can be difficult. They're also often outperformed, as is the case with Rocket Raccoon and his relatively mediocre healing. Spider-Man has a high skill ceiling that doesn't reward the player.
Captain America is a notable addition because of nerfs to Freedom Charge that brought him down. Peni Parker has a 58.7% win rate according to MetaBot stats, but her very low pick rate needs to be considered as well.
C-Tier: Below Average
These characters end up being too mediocre to compete with the best Marvel Rivals characters. Hawkeye doesn't have enough burst damage or utility, while Iron Man got buffed but is still mostly just a flashy decoration.
Punisher, Squirrel Girl, and Scarlet Witch all belong here as well, with the last one notably receiving improvements recently as well, but still not potent enough to affect the match.
D-Tier: Avoid Unless You Enjoy Suffering
Black Widow and Human Torch are currently the worst characters, with their in-game performance so low that every minute of playing with them is a struggle. If you're intent on playing them, it's best to know that it will be filled with difficulties.
Where to Go from Here
The current game rewards effective use of abilities and gunplay, and having two strategists and a vanguard is a must for any team composition when selecting from the Marvel Rivals character list. Build your team the right way, and the game will surely reward the right effort.
